Aortic Valve Replacement Options for Patients with Severe Aortic Stenosis

We partnered with the American College of Cardiology to develop a decision aid for patients considering treatment options for aortic valve replacement. The decision aids are hosted on CardioSmart, and can be accessed by clicking the links to the left.

Aortic stenosis is the tightening of the aortic valve in the heart. If you have been diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis, you may have to decide whether to fix your valve. Treatments may include transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), surgery, or symptom management.

The treatment options available to you may depend on your surgical risk and other health conditions. Talk to your doctor about what treatment options are available to you, and click on the links to learn more about treatment options for patients who are and patients who are not candidates for surgery.
